Speaking for the first time on her experience, Monica took us through the process of meeting and working with Ziad, her studio sessions and memories of creating alongside him and the musical family he built as well as a trip down memory lane of Beirut in the 1980s. This one is for Lebanon.
For our 4th anniversary, we wanted to present something special and unique for our community. Monica Asly is one of a few who collaborated closely over the 80s with the late Ziad Rahbani. She is currently residing in Montréal, teaching Music at McGill University and sitting on some unreleased music with Ziad. We had the distinct privilege of hosting her for our July Maktaba Moment.
Monica is the soft voice on his classic “Khalas” and has been a background and forward singer on many of his albums leading to her move to Canada. She has shared the stage with the legendary Fairuz and is all over the albums from Aprodisco.
