Saeed Teebi's book launch and conversation
On Monday, October 27 from 6-8pm, we held a Maktaba Moment to mark the book launch of Saeed Teebi's new book, You Will Not Kill Our Imagination.
Saeed Teebi was in-conversation with Sundus Abdul Hadi about his book, the writing process and the artist's role in the context of cultural erasure and genocide.
You Will Not Kill Our Imagination
A Memoir of Palestine and Writing in Dark Times
A vital, fearless memoir in the vein of Between the World and Me that explores what it means to be a Palestinian in this moment, the effects of the genocide on Palestinian art and imagination, and that to even claim a belonging to the land from a country thousands of miles away is an act of subversion.
Saeed Teebi is an acclaimed writer and lawyer. His newest book, You Will Not Kill Our Imagination: A Memoir of Palestine and Writing in Dark Times, was released in September 2025. His debut short story collection, Her First Palestinian, was a finalist for several awards, including the Atwood Gibson Writers’ Trust Prize. His other writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail and The New Quarterly, and was a finalist for a National Magazine Award.
