This past June, multi-hyphenate artist Hala Alsalman spoke about her research-creation project for her short film The Rod and The Ring, which was then followed by a screening and a Q&A. Her MFA thesis research explores possible futures in Iraq and beyond through the language of clay and dreams.
Alsalman's work investigates history-making, political power and gender relations through ceramics, collage and video. In 2024, she graduated from OCAD University with an MFA supported by the CGS-M scholarship. Dedicated to the children of Gaza, her thesis Remember The Future proposes dreaming as a methodology for excavating possible futures.
