In the history of Afro-descendant thought, pessimism is not directed at Black people, but at white society’s ability to overcome its Negrophobia. What if the ideas and reforms we consider progressive were merely metamorphoses of racism? In the era of Black Lives Matter, the persistence of the dehumanization and killing of Black people appears to be a cornerstone of our civil societies. This book challenges the simplistic, sanitized, or even irenic visions of contemporary Afro-descendant thought, particularly African-American thought. Intersectionality is not the only way to think about race, gender, and class from a Black perspective. "Noirceur" presents a collection of iconoclastic theories, contemporary debates, and political strategies to radically rethink the future of Black lives around the world.
