I want to host an event at Maktaba. Is this possible?

We don’t rent out Maktaba for private events. We also don't accept proposals for external programming. All Maktaba events are programmed in-house!

 

I am an author and I want to launch my book at Maktaba. Is this possible?

We would love to hear from you and to learn more about your book. We can only host a few launches every year, so our scheduling is limited. 

 

There is a book I want that you don’t stock. Can you order it for me?

We only do special orders in the shop in Montreal, and even then, not all books may be available. If there is a specific book you want that we don’t carry, we encourage you to buy directly from the publisher. 

 

How do you curate your book selection?

Every book has been chosen for a reason. Most of our collection is selected by our team, however we are always happy to receive recommendations by our community. 

 

Where do you ship to?

We currently only ship within North America - Canada and the United States. 

Unfortunately we do not offer international shipping at this time.

 

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping fees for orders in Canada are a flat fee of $12 CAD. Fees for orders in the United States are a flat fee of $15 CAD. 

 

When will I receive my order?

We use ChitChats for all shipping. Orders take around 1-3 days to process, and around 2-8 business days to arrive once shipped.

 

The t-shirt size I want is out of stock. Will it be available at a future time? 

We only make small quantities of our in-house brand, and once those are sold out, we don’t re-print them. It’s a first-come, first-serve type of situation.

 

Can I return an item?

Items can be returned within a 2-week period, provided you have a receipt and the item is in mint condition. 

 

Can I sit in the majlis?

The majlis is reserved for patrons, meaning you can use the space after you've purchased your item.

 

Do you have a bookclub?

Unfortunately, we do not have one at the moment.
