This issue explores the notion of horizon and the experience of its possible absence, nourishing the exchange between Lebanon and its diaspora.
This issue explores the notion of horizon and the experience of its possible absence, nourishing the exchange between Lebanon and its diaspora. This publication brings together a constellation of ideas that interrogate the imaginaries of dwelling and exile, the play of invisible borders, of distance, of practices of resistance in image production and the political representations of sectarianism, ecology and the experience specific to Lebanese urbanity. The majority of the texts gathered were written before October 7, 2023—and the on-going genocide. It includes contributions by Nadia Abiad, Etel Adnan, Hoda Adra, Majd al-Shihabi, Farès Chalabi, Hassan Choubassi, Gabriella Choueifaty, T.J. Demos, Ghida Hachicho, Rena Karanouh, Sevan Injejikian, Sammy Kayed, Lynn Kodeih, Maissa Maatouk, Hussein Nakhal, Chantal Partamian, Ghada Sayegh, Christian Sleiman, Sandra Dagher, Catherine David, Rasha Salti, Christine Tohme, Jalal Toufic and Mahmoud Darwich. It was edited by Mirna Abiad-Boyadjian and François Lemieux.
